Moving (28th April - 2nd May)

We packed most of our belongings and stuff we felt we wanted to keep and shipped them off to Natalie’s family in Australia.  The rest we sold and gave away.  This was late April 2006.

Albany, NY

Our first stop was to visit Gerald, Nicole, Beryl and the kids. Since we needed to have some work done on the truck close to Albany, we stayed a few days, went to Long Beach and returned.

El Salvador (23rd October - 11th November)

Ah El Salvador, it may be poor and may have a bad reputation because of its past, but we found it to be beautiful. The feeling of self determination and righteousness of the people was evident in everyone we met. This shows us the true power of the people to never give up in their quest for a better life, and their tenacity in demanding justice and accountability.

Feeling pressed for time and itching to get to South America we needed to go faster now. Maybe we'll come back to these two countries some day.

Costa Rica (13th November - 21st November)

We had a short and sweet visit in Costa Rica, seeing beautiful shorelines and meeting up with some fellow Landcruiser travelers. Needing to get to Colombia by Christmas, we headed to Panama after a week to have time to fix some issues with Ola and ship her to her next destination from the Panama canal. Costa Rica has many beautiful spots that we did not stop at, but we still had a great time.

Panama (21st November - 18th December)

Our high hopes for providing Ola with a bit of an overhaul for the next leg of our journey were dashed when our mechanic failed to do his job. We were fortunate to have an apartment to hang out in, but we found being in Panama difficult with the set-backs and too many broken promises. We loaded Ola into a container and headed for Colombia.

Colombia (18th December - 9th January)

Food, drinks, friends and family made this a very special stop on our journey. Don't believe the hype about Colombia, it's a beautiful place to visit.

Ecuador (9th January - 15th January)

We've made it to the Southern Hemisphere. We are thinking of either selling or shipping Ola in Chile, but we need to get there first. Ecuador has been short, but hard due mostly to Ola's mechanical issues. These are interesting times in Latin America though.

Peru (15th January - 24th January)

Thank you to all the folks in Peru and the country itself for giving us the push we needed to reenergize and continue this glorious adventure.

Chile (January 24th - February 3rd)

Chile has been beautiful...a very long, but not very wide country, we've been able to stay near the coast and enjoy the many quiet beaches and meet up with more family friends in Antofagasta. The Northern desert has cool sculptures jutting from the sand and scattered historical sites. We're still searching for options to ship the truck and so far Chile might not be the place.

Argentina (February 3rd - March 6th)

Argentina is full of fabulous opportunities to see wildlife without having to join an expedition and amazing views of snow capped mountains, glaciers and lakes. There is camping in every town; free or very cheap. We encountered the same openness with the people as we had the whole trip. This was the last South American country we visited before we flew to Sydney, Australia.
